Clarity and impact

Redos & "help-line"

Got some work you want to get just right? Maybe a one-off document such as a critical tender document or staff presentation? Or maybe a regular internal report such as an information pack or dashboard? Let me give it real clarity and impact so it informs, influences and impresses.

And I've redone them all - a plc's management accounts, a multi-million pound tender report, a FTSE 100's market research reports, a FTSE 250's KPI pack, year-end slides, an industry-wide handout, and more. Click here for testimonials.

What documents would you like me to transform for you?

Want ideas and inspiration? Ring my "help-line"

Maybe you want your document to be just right, but don't want me to redo it for you. Rather, you want tips, ideas, inspiration. Easy. My help-line gives you that in four simple steps:

1. You email me the document, plus give me its context
2. I give you a cost estimate
3. I give you ideas and inspiration
4. You pay by debit or credit card

This help-line is only for those who've seen my Course and know about, for instance, WiT and C-R-A-P. If that's you, you'll have seen me review documents, so you'll also know how many great tips, ideas and inspiration I can give in say just one hour.

And my hourly rate? I'll tell you after I've seen your document. Remember though that this service isn’t about tarting up your CV for a tenner. It’s about your tender slides or report for a big account, or your vital "capex" report, or your dashboards or information pack. So it'll cost more than a tenner.

(I don't do Annual Reports or Statutory Accounts. See below for why.)

Giving me context when emailing the document

Please give me two or three paragraphs of background:

How is the document produced? Excel? Word? Other?
How often produced? A one-off? Weekly? Monthly? Yearly?
How distributed? Hard copy? Intranet? Email attachment?
How many people will see it?
What do people think of it? Its authors? Its audience?
What questions and comments do people ask about it?
Is there anything else that will help me do a decent job?

Why I don't work on Annual Reports or Statutory Accounts

As I explain in my book, I don't try to change Annual Reports or Statutory Accounts simply because their layout and format "cannot" be changed.... Let me explain. Much of their layout is prescribed by accountants and is hence cast in stone. As for format, business expects a particular style for Annual Reports, regardless of its rights or wrongs. That’s why most Annual Reports contain presentational gimmicks and charts which hinder clarity, not help it (except Warren Buffett’s which are brilliant).

All of which explains why I steer clear of those two documents. And if that's not enough reason for you, there are other, even less complimentary reasons why I avoid them... ask me if interested.
