Sorting out your browser

If you see moving clouds in 'online Courses', your browser has what it needs to see the Courses. If you see a red message about your browser, this is how to sort it out. It needs a Flash plugin and be Javascript enabled. If you don't have a Flash plugin, download it from the Adobe website.

As for Javascript, you can normally enable it - click here for how to do this in the web's most popular browsers (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5/6 and 7, Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and Opera 8/9).

If you've a different browser, and can't find instructions to enable Javascript, drop us a line and we'll try to help.

Screen resolution: can't see the Course's navigation buttons?

The Courses fill a window that is 960 pixels wide by 720 pixels high and around 90% of users will have screens that are fine.

However, if your screen is a lower resolution, you may not be able to see the navigation buttons at the bottom of the Course screen - and this makes watching the Course a pain.

To remedy this, try pressing F11. This clears away the top of your "internet explorer" screen and may leave enough space for the navigation buttons to be visible at the bottom of the screen. To get the stuff at the top back again, press F11 again.

If that doesn't work, change your screen resolution temporarily while you watch the Course - see below. There's also instructions on how to change your text size too.

Download times

Courses are about 30Mb in size. On a typical home broadband connection, they'll take between 15 and 25 minutes to download to your computer. During this time, you'll see a download progress bar so you can see how it's going.

Only do the Courses if you've broadband (and preferably at least 512k speed). Don't try to watch them on a dial-up modem.
